Kim Lewis creates images for poetry and other literary texts, using drawing and printmaking.  She is also the author-illustrator of over 20 picture books for children.

Artist's Statement
My practice has always been concerned with text, both in children's books and in fine art collaborations with other writers. I try to express the secret kingdom of thought and feeling which happens between words and images, between saying and not saying, using framing, isolation, and detail to capture the traces words leave in your mind.

I use special plants or objects which recall their place in a person’s life or location, hand gestures which recall a person’s feeling at work; images which are about the bittersweet moments in life we all recognise.
