Portage

Following several visits to Allen Banks and also inspired by Linda France’s PHD work in that location, Kim assembled drawings and collage material on the theme of ‘portage’, using collected sticks as a metaphor for travel and the idea of carrying belongings from one water system to another. Growing up in Canada she remembers being enchanted by a a children’s book called ‘Paddle-to-the-Sea’, about a little carved canoe journeying through the Great Lakes to the sea.
